Awards

We give people a helping hand.

The Zonta Club of Northern Beaches provides a number of awards and scholarships locally. These include:

  • Indigenous Student Award

  • Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

  • JM Klausman Women in Business Award

  • The Amelia Earhart Award

Indigenous Student Award

Re-initiated in 2022, this award encourages an indigenous secondary school student in rural and regional NSW and locally to continue her education. Many of these young women will be the first in the family to go on to complete secondary school. Club applications are forwarded to District 24 for judging. Club winners receive a cash prize as do District winners.

ZCNB also supports the Zonta International Awards program by encouraging local women and girls to apply for the awards. We support them to have their applications judged at local and district level and, if successful, they go on to international judging.

Young Woman in Public Affairs Award

The Young Woman in Public Affairs Award (YWPA) – open to young women aged between 16-19 who demonstrate superior leadership skills and a commitment to public service and civic causes, and encourages them to continue their participation in public and political life. The applicant who is successful at our club level (receiving a prize currently $500) is then eligible to be entered in the District award (potential prize $1,500). If successful at a district level, the applicant will be put forward for the international prize, which is awarded to 37 successful applicants and is valued at USD5,000. JM Klausman Women in Business Award

The Jane M Klausman Women in Business scholarship – helps women pursue undergraduate and master’s degrees in business management and overcome gender barriers from the classroom to the boardroom. Applicants are assessed at a club level and, if successful, may be entered in the district award (valued at $2,000). The successful district applicant will be considered for the international prize, which is awarded to up to six applicants and is valued at USD8,000. << LINK >>
